For generations, Fleur de Lis Park in Lakeview has been a haven for the youth of the neighborhood. So when a for-sale sign appeared in the park late last month, the outcry from residents was loud and immediate. Now, it appears, City Hall, including Mayor Mitch Landrieu and the City Council, is on the neighbors’ side.

During a recent City Council committee meeting, Councilwoman Jackie Clarkson was told that the parks would be redone by mid-summer. “Mid-summer? We have to do better than that,” Clarkson said. “The kids have no place to play.”
