On February 3rd 2011, the New Orleans City Council passed ordinances authorizing construction of a new Orleans Parish Prison and continuation of the progress of the Saenger Theatre project. Councilmember Clarkson also honored Drex Brumfield with his family and friends.

For generations, Fleur de Lis Park in Lakeview has been a haven for the youth of the neighborhood. So when a for-sale sign appeared in the park late last month, the outcry from residents was loud and immediate. Now, it appears, City Hall, including Mayor Mitch Landrieu and the City Council, is on the neighbors’ side.

New Orleans voters will decide Nov. 4 whether to amend the City Charter to give the city’s forthcoming master plan the force of law, meaning that all zoning and land-use decisions would have to conform to the plan.
