September 1, 2011 Goldman Sachs 10,000 Small Businesses will offer its second class of scholars starting November 2011. A partnership between the City of New Orleans and Goldman Sachs, the 10,000 Small Businesses program will create jobs and stimulate economic growth by committing $20 million in capital for small business loans and supporting results-oriented business education for participating small business owners.
Local program partners will include Delgado Community College, Hope Enterprise Corporation (HOPE) and the Urban League of Greater New Orleans.
The initiative enables small business owners to access a dynamic combination of coursework, business advising, and other services that will help them grow their firms. Through the support of the Goldman Sachs Foundation, business owners selected by Delgado to participate in 10,000 Small Businesses will receive a full scholarship covering the cost of tuition and program materials. Program scholars will:
- Participate in an intensive entrepreneurship training program that examines business fundamentals through the lens of the participants’ actual business experiences;
- Develop a highly practical and implementable Growth Plan to identify and seize new business opportunities and hire new employees; and
- Receive technical assistance and business advice while synthesizing classroom learning and implementing a business Growth Plan.
Applications are due Thursday, September 8th at 5:00pm for the next classes starting in November.
