March 25, 2011 On March 28 through March 30, Council Vice President Jacquelyn Clarkson will attend Congressional Briefings in Washington, D.C. These meetings will also be attended by Deputy Mayor Cedric Grant and presidents of surrounding parishes: Jefferson Parish President John Young; Plaquemines Parish President Billy Nungesser; St. Tammany Parish President Kevin Davis; and St. Bernard Parish President Craig Taffaro, Jr.
A variety of topics will be addressed, including but not limited to:
• Oil Spill Related Issues
• Levee Protection (project needs and status)
• Coastal Restoration
• Infrastructure (water and sewer)
• Transportation Re-Authorization
The Regional Planning Commission for Jefferson, Orleans, Plaquemines, St. Bernard and St. Tammany Parishes, is a 26-member board of local elected officials and citizen members, appointed to represent you on regional issues. This board is supported by a staff of 22 professionals with broad experience, and doctorates or masters degrees, in a variety of areas including urban and regional planning, community development, economics, engineering, government, history, law, landscape architecture, political science, sustainable development, transportation, geography and other disciplines.
