Washington, D.C. – March 10, 2011 – New Orleans City Council Vice President Jacquelyn Brechtel Clarkson joined Jefferson Parish President John Young, Deputy Mayor Cedric Grant, and Sewerage and Water Board Executive Director Marcia St. Martin in a trip to Washington DC to meet with Louisiana delegation about the SELA (Southeast Louisiana Flood Control) Program.
The group met with Louisiana Representatives and Senators to discuss the continuation of funding for the SELA Program, which began in the 1990’s. The meetings with the delegates were critical to the continuation of the Southeast Louisiana Urban Flood Plan, which is significant to the effectiveness of the 100-year Flood Plan.
The group was very well received, and the delegation appreciated the coordination of Jefferson Parish and Orleans Parish. They expect to work as a total delegation to ensure our best chances of continuing this program.
More information on SELA can be found on their website.
