The administration wants the council to ratify the agreement as early as Thursday. However, Councilwoman Jackie Clarkson and other members have demanded more detailed information about how much the move would cost, how it would be paid for and what would happen with the current City Hall site.

Clarkson said she thinks $8 million is a good price for the buildings but is not yet convinced it makes sense for the city to buy them. She said she wants more information on questions such as how much it would cost to build out the interior space for the city’s needs, how expensive the move to the new quarters would be, how long the city’s leases for space it now is renting in other buildings have to run, and how much FEMA money is available for the project.
